Contur Software was founded in 1999 in Stockholm, Sweden with an initial focus on software development for customers in the Life Science sector. The system was named ConturELN and was rolled-out successfully to 500 users across multiple disciplines at Biovitrum in 2003.

In 2005 the company changed the strategic direction to focus its business entirely towards Electronic Lab Notebok systems. The goal was to become the nr 1 supplier of ELN´s to small and midsize R&D organization.

In 2009 the company launched the ConturELN system via a SaaS (Software-as-a-service) model. The service was named iLabber. The goal with iLabber was to provide a cost effective ELN solution based on a multi-tenant architecture to smaller R&D organizations with limited resources and IT infrastrcuture.

Today, ConturELN and iLabber together has established a position as one of the market leaders in the small to midsize segment of the market with more than 100 customers worldwide. Among these customers are leading chemical companies, biotech´s, food & beverage companies and Medical Universities.
