2010-05-07 Electronic Laboratory Notebooks at Karolinska Institutet

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, May 7, 2010. - Karolinska Institutet will use ConturELN for documenting all kinds of research activities.

Karolinska Institutet plans a roll-out of ConturELN starting 2010. The system will be offered to all groups and will replace the bound paper books.

The project is based on the agreement between Contur and Karolinska Institutet, Uppsala University and Umeå University signed in December 2009. The ConturELN system may be used by all scientists at the three universities, in total over 5 500 scientists.Currently some groups are using ConturELN at Karolinska Institutet, and they are all offered to migrate their records into the central system. The electronic laboratory notebook will be made available to all research groups and the aim is to include up to 1 500 users by the end of 2011.

Our history

Contur Software AB was founded in 1999 in Stockholm, Sweden, with initial focus on software development for companies within the retail, telecom and pharmaceutical industries. In 2002 Contur initiated collaboration with one of Europe’s major biotech companies Biovitrum, to develop an Enterprise Electronic Lab Notebook. The system was named ConturELN and was rolled-out successfully at Biovitrum in 2003.
