ConturELN Add-on:
Instrument/Analytical Data Repository

ConturRDC™ – Central and secure raw data repository

Don’t let vital information lay about on scattered devices in your network – take advantage of the security, flexibility and convenience that the ConturRDC provides. ConturRDC gathers all your analytical and instrument data (in this document referred to as raw data) in one central and secure (21 CFR part 11 compliant) repository. Example of data which is typically stored in ConturRDC is for example: HPLC, Chromatograms, Images, NMR Spectra, Assay Reader Data etc. ConturRDC can be linked with your existing ELN system so that you can easily track all raw data for a particular ELN experiment.

Key functions of ConturRDC

With ConturRDC you can:

  • Store raw data of any format (text, images, binary data, …)
  • Capture raw data manually
  • Automatically capture raw data at experiment completion
  • Monitor experiment runs
  • Easily search among stored data
  • Extract raw data from the system
  • Verify the integrity of the stored data
  • Invalidate stored raw data
  • Link raw data packages together in order to express relationships
  • Export metadata from the system (this could for example be used as instrument input data)
  • Import metadata into the system for quick experiment setups
  • Link to existing ELN system
  • Configurable instrument directory. Keep track of instruments and instrument meta-data. For example ID, Name, Location, Software Version etc.

Technology used

ConturRDC is implemented using client-server technology. The server part contains functionality for raw data handling and uses a database to store metadata. The raw data is optionally stored in a file system and/or in a database. For user interaction with the system a Windows .NET client is provided. Raw data can either be captured manually or by custom supervision agents.  A supervision agent is a small application executing near the instrument. The agent application is responsible for supervising the experiment run and communicating this information to the ConturRDC server. The agent application is custom made for each instrument or instrument type. Thanks to a standardized communication interface at the ConturRDC server the agent application can be written by for instance the customer’s own software development team.

Configuration

The ConturRDC system is easily configurable by means of configuration files in XML format. The server-side functionality as well as the behaviour of the supervision agents can be configured to your liking. ConturRDC can be integrated withy your existing ELN system. After an experiment run has been completed, ConturRDC can export meta-data and fingerprint (hash value) to your existing ELN system as well as a live link back to the raw data.
